Summary
AI tools have become mainstream now, with almost every company wanting to have the most advanced AI models out there. But this comes with a new challenge – integrating AI tools in pre-existing systems. To tackle this challenge, OpenAI and Anthropic established separate AI service companies earlier this year with one role in focus – Forward Deployed Engineers, or FDEs . FDEs are engineers who work with the client and ensure that the AI tools can integrate with their systems. And now, Amazon seems to be following the same path, as the company announced a $1 billion dollar investment in setting up its own FDE team within AWS. On Tuesday, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced that it was creating a new internal organisation that will focus on Forward Deployed Engineering. The Amazon division announced a $1 billion internal commitment, as it looks to help customers build and deploy AI systems by embedding engineers directly within their teams. Previously, this FDE model had raised concerns about whether it would be similar to the services usually provided by Indian IT firms like TCS or Infosys – modernising older systems with new technology. Google too is hiring thousands of Forward Deployed Engineers to meet the demand for enterprise AI products. In case you are wondering about the salary for FDEs, Google Cloud’s listings show that the company is willing to pay a base salary in the range of $153,000 (roughly Rs 1.46 crore) to $222,000 (roughly Rs 2.12 crore) for US positions.
