Summary
President Donald Trump's media company has said it plans to launch a paid service that would give customers special high-speed access to posts on Truth Social, including possibly those by Trump himself. The proposed service, called Truth PSI, would let Wall Street trading firms and other institutions receive posts from contributors within milliseconds, allowing them to act before markets respond, including to posts that could affect national security and financial markets. The company said the service would offer access to "the highest-ranking Truth Social accounts" ahead of other users, suggesting Trump's posts could be included. That has raised questions because Trump is the platform's most-followed user, with 12.9 million followers, and, as the biggest shareholder in its publicly traded parent company, would stand to benefit directly. "He's selling expedited, privileged access to information about what he is doing as president," said Kathleen Clark of Washington University School of Law, an expert in government conflicts of interest rules. "It's yet more brazen corruption, an improper exploitation of government power to enrich himself." The Trump family company declined to comment. Truth Social's public parent, Trump Media & Technology, did not immediately respond to emailed questions, including whether the president's posts would be excluded from the offering. The press release did not say how much customers would be charged. In recent months, Trump has used Truth Social to announce decisions and share thoughts on issues including the Iran war, tariffs and the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement crackdown in American cities. Posts on Iran, in particular, can move markets because investors are worried that higher oil prices could keep inflation elevated and possibly force the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates.
